Hanover Co-op's Rochdale mural

In 1994, the Hanover Co-op simultaneously celebrated the second expansion of its store and the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Rochdale Equitable Pioneers Society. During June, over 80 volunteers, working under the guidance of a local artist, created a six-panel mural depicting 150 years of cooperative history, including the founding of the Hanover Consumers Club in 1936 and its subsequent evolution into the Hanover Consumer Cooperative Society, Inc. The mural was unveiled in October, 1994, during a week-long celebration. The following photos illustrate the finished mural plus some of the many members who posed in period costume to illustrate various characters.
