Moonflower Community Cooperative Natural Foods Store in Moab, Utah Moonflower Community Cooperative (MCC), a natural foods store located in Moab, Utah is seeking a General Manager. MCC is a financially healthy and vibrant contributor to the community with over 30 years of history in Moab. MCC is one of a kind and proudly serves the character (and characters) of Moab – personality, professionalism, and communication are essential traits in our management team. The General Manager is employed by and reports to the Board of Directors and serves as head of a cooperative management team. The General Manager is responsible for implementing Board policies and managing the business in a profitable manner while focusing on providing a healthy environment and rewarding experience for our staff, members and customers. The GM is responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with local growers and vendors. 

Responsibilities include:

Operations – Along with the management team, oversee the general functioning of daily store operations, placing an emphasis on providing a welcoming, positive, and respectful store experience for all customers and staff.

Personnel – Maintain a cohesive, oppression free, competent and cooperative management team to oversee store operations. With the management team, see to the selection, training, performance, and review of employees as well as address and resolve performance problems. Provide a work environment that encourages team building and employee involvement in problem solving and policy development. Planning – Work with the management team to set performance objectives for the store, individual departments and customer services. Work with the Board to create the annual business plan including short and long term goals and objectives.

Financial - Provide monthly and quarterly financial reports and analysis to the Board of Directors; ensure that the store’s financial practices conform to accepted accounting principles; manage the budget and monitor deviations, taking corrective action if necessary.

Member Relations – Direct and maintain the business as a cooperative society; illicit input from shoppers and members about co-op issues, products and services; oversee ongoing community and staff education programs and classes; maintain a positive cooperative profile in the local community and in the larger cooperative community.

Board-Management Relations – Maintain effective communication and working relationship with the Board of Directors; proactively identify and advise the Board about issues of concern or benefit to the business and assist the Board in fulfilling its duties.

Qualifications: The ability to coordinate and facilitate the overall functioning of Moonflower Market. Willingness to work as part of a team and honor the skills, history and diversity of staff. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service. Experience in compiling and interpreting budgets and financial statements. Knowledge of and commitment to the natural foods industry. Knowledge of merchandizing and inventory control. The ability to work well with the Board of Directors. Experience with Quickbooks, Word, and Excel.
