Purpose: To ensure smooth store operations, excellent customer service, and professional and effective store conditioning. To serve on senior leadership team and participate in store-wide planning, communication and promotions/events. To achieve goals for key operating metrics.


Reports To: General Manager

Supervises: Grocery, Food Services, Produce, Wellness, and Front End Managers, Demo Coordinator

Pay Level: 8, Salaried Exempt



Customer Service

Provide and model courteous, prompt and helpful customer service

Ensure consistent, excellent and well-coordinated service from all operational departments

Participate in evaluating and improving store service performance and policies


Store Operations

Effectively manage all aspects of demo program and store selling departments based on goals and standards established by management team based on mission, policies and strategic priorities

Monitor and achieve goals for sales, margin, labor, turns , net income and other key metrics for operations departments

Ensure effective, respectful communication within and between selling departments

Ensure proper store cleanliness and appearance

Lead quarterly physical inventories

Serve as acting General Manager as needed

Oversee key retail functions including category management,merchandising, inventory management, product selection, pricing

Plan and coordinate promotions with buyers, managers and marketing department


Planning and Financial

Participate in development of annual and strategic business planning

Participate in goal setting and budgeting for sales departments



Provide adequate supervision for operations department managers, oversee hiring and training of selling department managers, assist in department goal setting

Provide regular feedback , coaching, evaluations and support to  selling department management team

Supportdepartment managers in problem solving and staff engagement

Monitor selling department safety performance and ensure safety policies and procedures are followed and goals  are met




Demonstrated leadership experience; experience directly supervising managers preferred

Extensive retail grocery experience in a management role required

Excellent communication skills

Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines and support department management team during busy holiday periods

Understanding of financial statements,  concepts and budgeting

Knowledge of natural food industry

Commitment to excellent customer service
